Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god except Him. Take Him for your Guardian. 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
