The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
