And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 They say, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. 180 Peace be on the Messengers. 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
