S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 "Has he made the aliha (gods) (all) into One Ilah (God - Allah). Verily, this is a curious thing!" 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? 9 Is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, for them? So would they not just ascend using ropes? 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
