We indeed created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him, and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein. 16 Moreover, there are two scribes, one each sitting on the right and the left, recording everything. 17 Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it). 18 Lo, the agony of death has indeed come with the Truth. That is what you had sought to avoid. 19 And the Horn shall be blown; that is the Day of Threat! 20 Each person will arrive attended by an [angel] to drive him on and another to bear witness. 21 You were heedless of this. Now We have removed your veil and so your vision today is sharp. 22 And (unto the evil-doer) his comrade saith: This is that which I have ready (as testimony). 23 It will be said to the angels, “Both of you fling every excessive ungrateful, stubborn person into hell.” 24 Hinderer of good, trespasser, doubter 25 and has set up another deity with Allah. Hurl him into the grievous torment.” 26 ۞ His companion will say: Our Lord! I did not lead him into inordinacy but he himself was in a great error. 27 Allah will say: wrangle not in My presence, and I had already proferred unto you the threat. 28 My word shall not be changed, nor am I in the least unjust to the servants. 29
