Nay! By the moon 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning unto humankind 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 who will be in Paradise 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
