The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
