The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
