He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and in awe of God 9 You neglect. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
