The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
