The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
