The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
