Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 Will surely be gratified. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
