Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ta. Sin. Mim. 1 These are Verses of the manifest Book (that makes clear truth from falsehood, good from evil, etc.). 2 We narrate unto thee (somewhat) of the story of Moses and Pharaoh with truth, for folk who believe. 3 Verily Fir'awn exalted himself in the earth and made the people thereof into sects, weakening a party among them, slaying their sons and letting their women live. Verily he was of the corrupters. 4 We wished to favour those who were oppressed in the land, and to make them leaders and make them inheritors [of Our bounties], 5 and to give them power in the land; and to show Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts that very thing which they feared. 6 And We revealed to Musa's mothers, saying: Give him suck, then when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear nor grieve; surely We will bring him back to you and make him one of the apostles. 7 So then the folk of Pharaoh picked him out to be an enemy and a sorrow to them; certainly Pharaoh and Haman, and their hosts, were of the sinners. 8 And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not. 9 And the heart of Musa's mother was free (from anxiety) she would have almost disclosed it had We not strengthened her heart so that she might be of the believers. 10 She told Moses' sister to follow her brother. His sister watched him from one side and the people of the Pharaoh did not notice her presence. 11 ۞ We made (Moses) refuse a wet nurse. So his sister said: "Should I tell you of a household that could bring him up for you and take care of him?" 12 So We restored him to his mother that she might be comforted and not grieve, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of them know not. 13
