Al-Burooj
The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the mansions of the stars, 1 and [then bethink thyself of] the promised Day, 2 By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;- 3 Cursed be the makers of the pit, 4 the fire with its fuel, 5 When they sat by it 6 and they were witnesses of what they did to the believers 7 They had no other reason for hating them except that they believed in God the mighty, worthy of praise, 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allah), will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 Indeed the seizure of your Lord is very severe. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 He is the All-forgiving, the Most Loving One, 14 Lord of the Throne of Glory, 15 Who does as He pleases. 16 Have you not heard the story of the hosts 17 of Pharaoh, and of [the tribe of] Thamud? 18 Nay, but the unbelievers still cry lies, 19 but all the while God encompasses them [with His knowledge and might] without their being aware of it. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 Inscribed in a tablet preserved. 22
True are the words of God the Almighty.
