And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 "They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation." 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those whom you used to worship?" 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And all the armies of Satan. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error." 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
