The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
