No, by the moon! 32 and the night when it retreats 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 it is a warning to man, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 About the criminals, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
