The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
