The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
