The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
