The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lout (Lot) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 My Lord! deliver me and my followers from what they do. 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 Except an old woman, among those who remained behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
