The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
