The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
