The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
