Remember when you set forth in the morning from your house assigning the faithful positions for the battle, God heard everything and knew all. 121 when two groups from among you were about to lose heart, although God was near unto them and it is in God that the believers must place their trust: 122 And Allah did certainly assist you at Badr when you were weak; be careful of (your duty to) Allah then, that you may give thanks. 123 When thou didst say unto the believers: Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should support you with three thousand angels sent down (to your help)? 124 "Yea, - if ye remain firm, and act aright, even if the enemy should rush here on you in hot haste, your Lord would help you with five thousand angels Making a terrific onslaught. 125 The sending of the angels is a glad news from your Lord so that you would have more confidence in Him. No victory is real unless it is from God, the Majestic and All-wise. 126 And Allah provided this aid to you in order to cut off a part of those who disbelieved and frustrate them so that they retreat in utter disappointment. 127 This matter is not for you to decide – whether He guides them to repent or punishes them, for they are the unjust. 128 And to Allah only belongs all whatever is in the heavens and all whatever is in the earth; He may forgive whomever He wills, and punish whomever He wills; and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful. 129
