And never did We send any Prophet to a dwelling but We seized its people with hardship and adversity so that they may become humble. 94 Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive. 95 Had the people of those towns believed in and feared God, We would have showered upon them blessings from heaven and earth, but they rejected the truth. So We seized them on account of their misdeeds. 96 Do the people of these towns now feel secure against the coming of Our punishment upon them by night while they are asleep? 97 Why, can the people of any community ever feel secure that Our punishment will not come upon them in broad daylight, while they are engaged in [worldly] play? 98 Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people. 99
