The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 And We brought Our signs unto them, yet they were averting themselves therefrom. 81 notwithstanding that they had been wont [to enjoy Our blessings and] to hew out dwellings from the mountains, [wherein they could live] in security 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 and whatever they had been earning proved of no avail. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-creator, the All-knowing. 86 We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the great Quran. 87 Do not direct your eyes towards the things We have given to some of their couples to enjoy, and do not at all grieve because of them, and take the Muslims within the folds of your mercy. 88 And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner, 89 such as We send down for those who are divisive, 90 [and] who [now] declare this Qur'an to be [a tissue of] falsehoods! 91 Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one, 92 For all their deeds. 93 So shout that thou art commanded and turn thou away from the idolaters. 94 We will, surely, suffice you against those who mock, 95 who assert that there are, side by side with God, other divine powers as well: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 Therefore proclaim the Purity of your Lord with praise, and be of those who prostrate. 98 Worship your Lord till the certainty (death) comes to you. 99
