Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
