The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those of the right hand. 38

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
