The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
