There is a sign for them in the lifeless earth. We revive it and We produce grain from it of which they eat. 33 And We have placed therein gardens of the date-palm and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein, 34 That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign to them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship. 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 and [that,] if such be Our will, We may cause them to drown, with none to respond to their cry for help: and [then] they cannot be saved, 43 Except by way of Mercy from Us, and by way of (world) convenience (to serve them) for a time. 44 And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 And they say: When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful? 48 They are awaiting only for one Cry to seize them while they are yet disputing, 49 No (chance) will they then have, by will, to dispose (of their affairs), nor to return to their own people! 50
