54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Ha Mim 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 proclaiming good news and a warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not listen. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
