The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
