He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
