The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
