Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - 2 And by the begetter (i.e. Adam) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny); 3 Verily, We have created man into [a life of] pain, toil and trial. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 How will you comprehend what the Steep ascent is? -- 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
