and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 And We vouchsafed unto them signs wherein was a manifest favour. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
