These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 We! it is We Who created you: wherefore confess ye not? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 “We have been penalised; 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
