And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
