The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
