Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning for people -- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
