He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
