And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
