Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 "The One Who created me, so He will guide me." 78 "And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink." 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those whom you used to worship?" 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
