It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. 16 Behold! when the two receivers receive - one on the right hand and one on the left a sitter. 17 each word he utters shall be noted down by a vigilant guardian. 18 And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!" 19 And the trumpet will be blown: this is the Day of the Threatening. 20 Every soul will be accompanied (by an angel) behind him and another as a witness. 21 (It will be said to the sinners): "Indeed you were heedless of this, now We have removed your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!" 22 And his companion will say: 'This is that which I have present' 23 The command was given: “Cast into Hell every hardened, stubborn unbeliever, 24 hinderer of good, transgressor, causing others to doubt, 25 Who had set up another god with God. Cast him into severe torment." 26 ۞ Man's other self' will say: "O our Sustainer! It was not I that led his conscious mind into evil [nay,] but it had gone far astray [of its own accord]! 27 He will say, “Do not dispute before Me – I had already warned you of the punishment.” 28 The Sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed, and I am not unjust (to the least) to the slaves." 29
