The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On an open record. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
