The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 and defilement flee! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he beheld, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
