The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
