Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a high Garden, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
